Description

Sticky Honey Chicken is a quick and delicious skillet-cooked dish featuring tender boneless chicken breasts glazed with a sweet and savory honey-soy sauce. Perfect for a busy weeknight dinner, this recipe combines honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger to create a sticky, flavorful coating that’s garnished with sesame seeds and pairs wonderfully with rice or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes if using, until well combined.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the boneless chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
  3. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared honey sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and fully coat the chicken breasts.
  4. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle the chicken with sesame seeds and serve hot, ideally accompanied by steamed rice or your favorite vegetables.

Notes

  • For extra heat, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add chopped fresh chili.
  • Ensure the chicken is cooked thoroughly by checking the internal temperature with a meat thermometer.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed jasmine rice or sautéed green vegetables like broccoli or bok choy.
  • To make this recipe gluten-free, use tamari or a gluten-free soy sauce alternative.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
