Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Pizza Toast Pockets featuring crispy baked sandwich bread filled with gooey mozzarella, savory pepperoni, and flavorful pizza sauce. Perfect as a quick snack, appetizer, or kid-friendly dinner option.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pockets

  • 8 slices sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup mini pepperoni slices

For the Topping

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Flatten each slice of sandwich bread with a rolling pin until thin to make it easy to fold and seal.
  2. Assemble the Pockets: Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce onto one half of each bread slice. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and a spoonful of mini pepperoni slices.
  3. Seal the Pockets: Fold the bread over to form a pocket and press the edges firmly with a fork to seal it tightly, preventing filling from leaking during baking.
  4. Make Seasoned Butter: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and dried Italian seasoning until well combined.
  5. Brush and Sprinkle: Brush the tops of the pockets with the seasoned butter mixture, then sprinkle lightly with grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor and a golden crust.
  6. Bake: Place the prepared pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pockets are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the pockets to cool slightly before serving to avoid burns from hot filling. Enjoy warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute mini pepperoni with cooked sausage, diced bell peppers, or olives for different flavors.
  • These pizza toast pockets can also be cooked in an air fryer set to 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
