Ingredients
Scale
Dough Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
Filling
- 2 cups diced peaches (fresh or canned)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Frosting
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: Dissolve the yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes, to ensure the yeast is active.
- Make Dough: In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, flour, and the activated yeast mixture. Mix thoroughly to form a dough, then knead it on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
- First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Prepare Filling: In a separate bowl, mix the diced peaches with brown sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Shape Rolls: Roll the risen dough out into a large rectangle. Evenly spread the peach filling over the dough. Starting at one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
- Second Rise: Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, spacing slightly apart. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25 minutes or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through.
- Make Frosting & Serve: While the rolls bake, beat together the softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Spread this frosting over the warm rolls after they come out of the oven. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use fresh peaches during peach season for best flavor, or well-drained canned peaches year-round.
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- You can substitute part of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat for a healthier twist.
- For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free butter and cream cheese alternatives.
- Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
