Description

A vibrant and tropical Passion Fruit Margarita that combines the tangy sweetness of passion fruit with the classic flavors of a margarita, elevated by a hint of smoky mezcal and a spicy chili salt rim. Perfect for a refreshing, exotic cocktail experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 ounces smooth, flavorful spirit (tequila recommended)
  • 1 ounce Cointreau or triple sec
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce passion fruit purée
  • Pulp of half a passion fruit
  • Ice

Optional Ingredients

  • ½ ounce agave syrup (1 tablespoon) for extra sweetness
  • ½ ounce mezcal (1 tablespoon) for smoky flavor

For Rimming

  • Lime wedge
  • Chili salt, flaky sea salt, or tajín

Garnish

  • Passion fruit slice
  • Edible flower (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass Rim: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and then dip it into chili salt, flaky sea salt, or tajín. Set the glass aside to allow it to set.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the 2 ounces of the chosen smooth spirit, 1 ounce of Cointreau or triple sec, 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, 1 ounce of passion fruit purée. If using, also add ½ ounce of agave syrup for sweetness and ½ ounce of mezcal for a smoky depth.
  3. Shake the Cocktail: Shake the cocktail shaker vigorously until it becomes very cold to ensure proper mixing and chilling of all ingredients.
  4. Assemble the Drink: Fill the rimmed glass with ice cubes. Add the pulp of half a passion fruit into the glass, then strain the shaken cocktail over the ice and pulp.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with a slice of passion fruit and an edible flower if desired. Serve immediately for the freshest and most vibrant flavor experience.

Notes

  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding or omitting agave syrup according to your taste.
  • Mezcal adds a smoky layer; omit it for a classic margarita flavor.
  • Chili salt or tajín rim offers a spicy contrast to the sweetness of passion fruit.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the cocktail chilled and fresh.
