Ingredients
Scale
Sautéed Mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound sliced baby bella mushrooms (or sliced white button mushrooms)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Burgers
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 1 tablespoon steak seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns (recommended: brioche buns)
Instructions
- Prepare Mushrooms: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter with the olive oil.
- Cook Mushrooms: Add the sliced mushrooms and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, stir to combine, and cook undisturbed for 5 minutes.
- Add Broth: Pour in the beef broth and cook until the liquid has mostly evaporated, about 8-10 minutes.
- Season Mushrooms: Add minced garlic and black pepper to the mushrooms, cook another 3-4 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside.
- Form Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, steak seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently and form into four 4-ounce patties.
- Preheat Grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Grill Burgers: Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side.
- Add Cheese: During the last 1-2 minutes of grilling, top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese to melt.
- Toast Buns: Place the hamburger buns on the grill to lightly toast them.
- Rest Burgers: Remove the burgers from the grill and let them rest on a cutting board for 3-5 minutes.
- Assemble Burgers: Place the rested patties on the toasted buns, top with the sautéed mushrooms, and add any optional toppings you like.
Notes
- Use baby bella mushrooms for a deeper flavor or white button mushrooms for a milder taste.
- Allowing mushrooms to cook without stirring helps them brown better and develop richer flavor.
- Resting the burgers after grilling lets the juices redistribute for a juicier bite.
- Customize with additional toppings such as lettuce, tomato, or caramelized onions if desired.
- Steak seasoning can be store-bought or homemade to suit your preference.
