Ingredients
Scale
Salmon
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
Miso Butter Glaze
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 tablespoon white miso paste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
- Sesame seeds (optional)
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s at the right temperature for baking the salmon evenly.
- Prepare Miso Butter Glaze: In a small bowl, combine softened butter with white miso paste, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, and grated fresh ginger. Mix well until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Prepare Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Lay them skin-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Apply Glaze: Spread the prepared miso butter mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet, coating thoroughly to maximize flavor.
- Bake Salmon: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and is opaque in the center.
- Broil for Golden Top: For a beautifully golden and slightly caramelized top, switch the oven to broil and cook the salmon for an additional 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Rest and Garnish: Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions, sprinkle sesame seeds if using, and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
Notes
- White miso offers a mild and slightly sweet flavor perfect for the glaze; you may substitute with red miso for a deeper taste using a smaller amount.
- This salmon pairs wonderfully with steamed rice, sautéed greens, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
- Be careful during the broiling step to avoid burning the glaze — watch closely as it only takes 1-2 minutes.
- Allowing the salmon to rest after baking helps retain moisture and enhances texture.
