Ingredients
Scale
Marinade
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, honey, and lemon juice. Whisk well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended into a smooth marinade.
- Marinate the chicken: Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper. Place them in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over. Ensure the chicken is well-coated, then cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to infuse. For deeper flavor, marinate overnight.
- Preheat the grill: Heat a grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat until hot, preparing it for cooking the chicken evenly and creating attractive grill marks.
- Grill the chicken: Remove the chicken breasts from the marinade and discard any remaining marinade. Place the chicken on the grill and cook for 6-8 minutes on one side.
- Flip and cook: Turn the chicken breasts over and grill for an additional 6-8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the chicken is thoroughly cooked.
- Rest the chicken: Remove the grilled chicken from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes, which helps retain juices and ensures tender slices.
- Slice and garnish: Slice the rested chicken into strips and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions to enhance flavor and presentation. Serve warm.
Notes
- Marinating the chicken overnight will enhance the flavor even more, but at least 30 minutes is sufficient if you’re short on time.
- If you don’t have a grill, a grill pan or skillet on the stovetop works well as an alternative.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari.
- Serve with steamed rice and grilled vegetables for a complete meal.
- To toast sesame seeds, dry roast them in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently.
