Description

These freezer-friendly Ham, Egg, and Cheese Bagel Bombs are a delicious and convenient breakfast treat. Made with pizza dough stuffed with fluffy scrambled eggs, diced ham, and melted cheese, then boiled briefly and baked to golden perfection, they’re perfect for meal prep or grab-and-go mornings. The addition of bagel seasoning on top adds a flavorful crunch, making these savory bombs a great alternative to traditional bagels.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 package Refrigerated Pizza Dough (can also use homemade versions)

Filling

  • 8 whole Eggs (can swap with egg whites for a lighter option)
  • 1 cup Diced Ham (try turkey or chicken for a leaner alternative)
  • 1 cup Shredded Allegro Cheese (any melting cheese like cheddar or mozzarella works)
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Boiling Water

  • 1 tablespoon Honey (optional but adds a nice touch)

Topping

  • to taste Bagel Seasoning (make your own mix with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and garlic powder)

Instructions

  1. Prepare dough: Thaw your refrigerated pizza dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 20 minutes to achieve a fluffy texture.
  2. Make scrambled eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Gently scramble them in a pan over medium heat until fluffy, then set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Boil water with honey: In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add a splash of honey to enhance the rise and flavor of the bagel bombs.
  4. Fill and seal dough: Flatten each dough ball into a circle. Spoon in scrambled eggs, diced ham, and shredded cheese into the center, then carefully fold and seal the edges to enclose the filling.
  5. Boil bagel bombs: Drop each stuffed bagel bomb into the boiling water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and allow to drain briefly.
  6. Bake: Place the boiled bagel bombs on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle the tops with your favorite bagel seasoning blend. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool and store: Let the bagel bombs cool completely. Wrap them individually in plastic wrap or place them in freezer-safe bags for freezing and future enjoyment.

Notes

  • Use turkey or chicken instead of ham for a leaner version.
  • Swap whole eggs for egg whites to reduce fat and calories.
  • The honey in the boiling water helps the bagel bombs rise and adds subtle sweetness.
  • To make your own bagel seasoning, mix poppy seeds, sesame seeds, and garlic powder.
  • These bagel bombs freeze well and can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
