Description

These Chicken Alfredo Air Fryer Calzones combine tender shredded chicken with creamy Alfredo sauce and melted mozzarella cheese inside a golden, crispy crust. Perfectly cooked in the air fryer, these calzones are a quick and satisfying meal for any night of the week.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound)

Alfredo Sauce

  • 1 cup homemade or store-bought Alfredo sauce
  • For homemade: butter, minced garlic, heavy cream, Parmesan cheese (quantities per homemade Alfredo recipe)

Dough and Filling

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 cup fresh spinach (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Olive oil spray

Instructions

  1. Cook Chicken: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket and cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove and shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces once cooled slightly.
  2. Prepare Alfredo Sauce (if homemade): In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant, then whisk in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Stir continuously until the sauce is smooth and thickened.
  3. Combine Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Add fresh spinach if using, and mix well to incorporate all ingredients. Sprinkle in garlic powder for extra flavor.
  4. Prepare Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into approximately 6-inch diameter circles to form individual calzones.
  5. Fill and Seal Calzones: Spoon the chicken Alfredo filling onto one half of each dough circle. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the filling. Fold the dough over to cover the filling and press the edges together firmly using a fork to seal completely.
  6. Air Fry Calzones: Lightly spray the formed calzones with olive oil spray for a golden finish. Place them in the air fryer basket, ensuring space between each, and cook at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Notes

  • You can substitute store-bought Alfredo sauce for a quicker preparation.
  • Make sure to seal the edges of the calzones tightly to prevent filling from leaking during cooking.
  • Adding spinach is optional but adds a fresh, healthy touch.
  • Adjust the cooking time slightly depending on the size of your calzones and the model of air fryer.
  • Serve hot for the best taste and texture.
