Description
A refreshing, homemade version of the classic Chick-fil-A lemonade made with freshly squeezed lemons and a simple syrup for the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. This easy-to-make lemonade is ideal for summer gatherings or any time you need a cool, citrusy drink.
Ingredients
Scale
Simple Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
Lemonade
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-5 lemons)
- 4 cups cold water
Instructions
- Make the Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved, forming a clear simple syrup. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Prepare the Lemon Juice: Squeeze fresh lemons until you have 1 cup of lemon juice, ensuring no seeds get into the juice.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, pour the freshly squeezed lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, and the remaining 4 cups of cold water.
- Chill the Lemonade: Stir the mixture thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and chill for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and to serve it cold.
- Serve: Pour the lemonade over ice cubes in glasses and enjoy the refreshing drink.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of sugar in the simple syrup to taste.
- For a fizzier version, substitute some of the cold water with sparkling water before serving.
- Use fresh lemons only for best flavor; bottled lemon juice will alter the taste.
- Store leftover lemonade in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days for optimal freshness.
