Ingredients
Scale
Wet Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Add-ins
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add bananas and eggs: Stir in the mashed bananas, then add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated and the batter is uniform.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to remove lumps and evenly distribute the leavening.
- Fold dry into wet: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture. Stir gently until just combined to avoid overmixing which can toughen the brownies.
- Add chocolate chips: Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly through the batter for pockets of melty chocolate.
- Transfer to pan and bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it out evenly with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
- Cool and serve: Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan before slicing into 9 squares and serving.
Notes
- For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake and allow them to set as they cool.
- You can add chopped walnuts or dark chocolate chunks to the batter for additional texture and flavor.
- Use very ripe bananas to maximize natural sweetness and moisture in the brownies.
